Stockport Old Town

Foodie Friday in Stockport is all about the local community coming together and this month we remember all the lives tragically lost in the Manchester attack and dedicate our event to the memory of Stockport’s special son, Martyn Hett from Heaton Moor.

Martyn’s legacy is that life is for living with as much joy, laughter and passion as you can possibly muster and we hope that you can gather together with your nearest and dearest and join us for #bemoreMartyn.

We will be celebrating Martyn by playing some of his favourite music which will get everyone dancing and we will have some great live performances from local artists including young performer Ellie Stewart, singer-songwriter Jules Musgrove and the fantastic bands Kames and Donna and the Kebabs.

Come along hungry as you can sample a wide variety of delicious tastes from around the world from up to 20 of the best street food traders in the North West as well as all the specialist food and drink offers from Stockport’s regular indoor market traders.

Enjoy the special atmosphere as friends, family and work mates come together to eat, drink and be entertained by the best local musical talent. Foodie Friday visitors are a wonderful community of people and the event is a great opportunity to meet up with old friends and make new ones!

A charity that was very close to Martyn’s heart was Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research who he worked with as part of his job as Digital Manager at Rumpus PR in Altrincham. When Kidscan needed to raise awareness of the work it was doing to find better, gentler treatments for childhood cancer, Martyn worked wonders for them creating hundreds of pieces of press coverage and thousands of You Tube views of a video he made himself which helped to bring in a significant amount of vital funds for the charity.

This month we are delighted to be continuing Martyn’s legacy by supporting Kidscan Children’s Cancer Research who will be joining us again with Stockport teenager Charlotte Jennings who defeated cancer but was left with life-long problems because of the treatments she underwent. Charlotte will be fundraising for her own campaign #SKforKidscan to ensure other children don’t suffer in the same way so we urge you to support her if you can.

Foodie Friday is very much a team effort and we are very grateful for the continued support of Stockport Market, Totally Stockport, Robinsons Brewery and the award-winning software company CDL which enables us to keep delivering the best event possible here in Stockport Old Town. We hope you can join us this Friday for Stockport’s most unique night out. For more information please visit www.skfoodiefriday.co.uk
