The Stockport Old Town Fringe Festival 2014

The first ever Stockport Old Town Fringe Festival was a huge success, attracting 10,000 people to Stockport over three days in August 2014.

The first ever Stockport Old Town Fringe Festival was a huge success, attracting 10,000 people to Stockport over three days in August 2014.

The three-day event took place in and around Stockport Market Place from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st August with art, music, food and street entertainment throughout.

Among the highlights were a performance by comedian Vicki Stone, live music at the Seven Miles Out centre, a trail of sticky tape sculptures and circus acts. Eye-catching performer Dick Danger climbed a 30ft pole before sliding head-first into a bucket of water.

The Stockport Medieval Viking Fair took place on Friday 24th - Sunday 26th October 2014 in Stockport Old Town.

The Stockport Medieval Viking Fair took place on Friday 24th – Sunday 26th October 2014 in Stockport Old Town.

 

Featuring medieval market stalls, viking re-enactors, knights in shining armour, birds of prey and musical performances from Serpentyne and Leafblade. This was an event not to be missed!

The Winter Fireside Celebration was a free family event taking place at Seven Miles Out Arts Centre.

The Winter Fireside Celebration was a free family event taking place in the courtyard behind Seven Miles Out Arts Centre.

By creating an atmospheric woodland idyll for families, local artists Sophie Tyrell, Jane Doyle and Emma Martin encouraged children to get involved in lantern art, woodland craft activities, cooking bread and listening to the story told by Minerva the Storyweaver around the campfire.

Seven Miles Out Music and Arts Festival took place in and around Stockport Market Hall between 11 – 4pm on Sunday 29th July.

The event featured live music performances, comedy from ‘A Laugh in Stockport’, interactive street workshops from the Contact Theatre and Plaza Youth and included over 100 stallholders from The Teenage Market.
